Update of the visual brand as part of an overall website development project.
The Need
Woeber's decided it was time for a change and made a strategic move to update their web presence and refresh their brand, aiming to modernize their online presence through a complete website makeover that enhances user-friendliness, visual appeal, and authenticity to their values and heritage, ensuring memorable and impactful online interactions for their customers.
The Goals
Our goals were twofold: first, to reimagine Woeber's visual brand language, creating a fresh and modern look while honoring its rich heritage. Second, we aimed to integrate this updated visual identity into a new website experience. This website would not only capture the essence and spirit of Woeber's products but also provide an engaging and user-friendly interface for visitors. By achieving these goals, we intended to strengthen Woeber's brand presence and create a cohesive, memorable online experience for our audience.
The Solution
Woeber's is a brand with over 100 years of history. Our first step was to delve into that history to see what we could bring forward. In the 1950s, a trade character appeared in Woeber's advertising, but at some point, it was redrawn and lost much of its original charm. We found good examples of the original character and redrew the mustard man in a way that was faithful to the original. We incorporated heritage-driven fonts, colors, and body copy to give the brand a nostalgic feel. The web interface and content followed suit, reinforcing those brand personalities.
The Takeaway
When working with a brand with a rich history, it is important to identify any elements of brand equity from over the years that could be beneficial and add a sense of nostalgia. These historical aspects reinforce the brand's longevity and, when incorporated correctly, add something unique that no other brand can claim.
A BRAND WITH HISTORY
IN 1905 WOEBER’S LAUNCHED OUT OF A HOME, MAKING A VARIETY OF QUALITY MUSTARDS IN HIS OWN KITCHEN AND SELLING THEM DOOR-TO-DOOR BY HORSE AND BUGGY. IT WAS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE DEMAND FOR THE WOEBER PRODUCTS GREW INTO A NEED FOR A MANUFACTURING FACILITY. THE REST IS HISTORY.
